Momentum is a ministry for middle and high school students. At Momentum there is fun, food and fellowship all for the sake of encouraging our students to be people who connect, consume and contribute.
CONNECT:
The main reason students go to youth group is to see their friends. This is not a bad thing. One of the first things that God said about people was, “It is not good for the man to be alone.” So we have time to hang out and play games and finish the night with small groups with the hope that every student will leave having been connected to another student or a leader and ultimately to God.
CONSUME:
The islands are filled with very hungry people who are going from one place to another looking for something to eat. At Momentum, we believe that it is Jesus that we are all so hungry for. So every week we open our Bibles and look for something about Jesus. Although we may talk about family, Facebook or stealing, it will always be with the attempt to see Jesus in that area of our lives.
CONTRIBUTE:
Our short term goal for every student is that they end up here, contributing to what God is doing in this world at Momentum and through Momentum. We believe that serving God and others is what we are all made for and the only way to find true joy.
FAITH THAT LASTS:
While this is how we encourage our students to participate at Momentum now, it is all with a long term goal in mind—to send students to college with a faith in Jesus that lasts.
6th – 12th grade students meet Wednesday Nights 6:00 – 8:00pm.
If you have never been to ICC—or any church—before, we want to calm your nerves. We strive to make Momentum both fun and functional. We want you to enjoy your time with us but also want you to be able to use what you get here in your day-to-day lives. Don’t worry if you feel as though you are not a “youth group” person. Jesus loves everyone. And Momentum is a place for everyone.
So grab a friend and come check us out.
